A. Cardinal number (bilangan pokok):

Perbedaan British and American English:

105 = one hundred five (American)

105 = one hundred and five (British)

1.000.000.000 = billion (American)

Ordinal number digunakan untuk menyatakan tanggal dan tingkat :

1st March 1998 (the first of March in 1998)

1st class (first class/kelas satu)

Contoh kalimat :

That girl is my first daughter. Anak perempuan itu adalah putri saya yang pertama.

That boy is my second son. Anak laki-laki itu adalah putra saya yang kedua.

C. Fractions (bilangan pecahan):

1/2 = a half

1/3 = a third

1/4 = a fourth atau a quarter

1/5 = a fifth

2/3 = two-third

3/4 = three-fourth

3 1/2 = three and a half

0.5 = zero point five

2.9 = two point nine

19.14 = nineteen point one four

123.236 = one hundred and twenty-three point two three six

Pembacaan perhitungan dalam bahasa Inggris:

10 + 8 = 18 ten and eight is eighteen (ten plus eight equal eighteen)

16 - 7 = 9 sixteen less seven is nine (sisteen minus seven equal nine)1

1 x 2 = 2 once two is two (one times two equal two)

2 x 2 = 4 twice two is four (two times two equal four)
